PICK N PAY
When the opportunity to acquire a large property adjacent to the De Keur Shopping Centre in Ceres arose, the owner, Amrichprops, did not waste any time to procure the land. An existing dilapidated building was demolished and an L-shaped open mall was designed to match the existing building in terms of aesthetics and finishes.
In an unusual move, the owner agreed to demolish a sizable portion of the existing shopping centre to improve the parking and traffic flow of the property. This decision not only opened the two sections of the mall to create a clear visual link, but it also afforded the opportunity to address historical vehicle circulation issues and eliminate dead-end circulation. The loss of a couple of hundred square meters of lettable area in the end had much larger benefits to the long term viability and the functionality of the centre.
